Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives are explicit statements that define what learners will be able to know, do, or feel as a result of the educational activity. They serve as clear goals for both instructors and learners, guiding the learning process and assessments.

Purpose

Identifying learning objectives helps people to understand what they are expected to achieve and how their learning will be assessed. They serve as a roadmap for the learning journey, providing a clear direction and focus for both learners and educators.

Anti-patterns

  • Vague Objectives: Avoid objectives that are too broad or vague, lacking specificity on what is to be achieved.
  • Non-measurable Goals: Objectives that cannot be measured or assessed should be revised to include clear, observable outcomes.
  • Overloading Objectives: Setting too many objectives for a single learning activity can dilute focus and effectiveness.
