Value Stream Map

A Value Stream Map is a visual tool used to illustrate, analyse, and improve the steps involved in delivering a product or service from its inception to the customer.

Purpose

• To Identify Waste: Pinpointing steps in the process that do not add value to the end product.
• To Improve Efficiency: Highlighting opportunities for streamlining processes and reducing lead times.
• To Enhance Value Delivery: Ensuring that every step in the process contributes to the customer's value.

Anti-patterns

• Overcomplication: Including too much detail, making the map hard to understand and act upon.
• Ignoring Information Flow: Focusing only on the material or product flow without considering how information guides the process.
