Feedback Guidelines
Feedback Guidelines refer to the set of principles and recommended practices that direct how feedback is given and received within an organisation. These guidelines are designed to ensure that feedback is constructive, respectful, and beneficial for growth and development.
Purpose
We want to ensure that feedback is constructive, respectful, and beneficial for growth and development. Feedback guidelines put in place a structure that helps people give effective feedback as well as make it easier for individuals to receive feedback constructively.
Anti-patterns
- Vagueness: Avoid feedback that lacks specific examples or clear direction, as it can be confusing and unhelpful.
- Timing: Giving feedback too long after the event, which can diminish its relevance and impact.
- Negativity: Focusing only on what went wrong, without suggesting solutions or recognising what was done well, can demoralise and disengage staff.
