Stream Team Scope

A Stream Team Scope is a document that defines the one or more values streams that a team is responsible for.

Purpose

Defining the scope of a stream team helps clarify the team’s objectives, responsibilities, and boundaries, ensuring that team members understand their roles and can work effectively towards achieving their goals. It also provides a clear framework for evaluating the team’s performance and aligning their efforts with the broader organisational strategy.

Anti-patterns

  • Overlap in Responsibilities: Assigning overlapping value streams to multiple teams, leading to confusion, unnecessary collaboration and duplication of effort.
  • Undefined Boundaries: Failing to define clear operational boundaries, causing teams to overstep their roles or neglect certain areas.
  • Flexible Scopes: Creating scopes that are too flexible and lead teams to work on the same tasks, resulting in inefficiencies and conflicts.
